INVERNESS — Highland chicken lovers will have to wait a little longer to get their flavor fix. The highly anticipated launch of Wingstop’s new Inverness location, originally scheduled to open its doors on August 11, has officially been delayed until September 11.

The American fast-food giant is taking over the former Pizza Hut site at Inverness Shopping Park on Eastfield Way. The new branch marks a significant milestone for the chain as its 100th UK store and its first location in the Scottish Highlands.

While no official reason was given for the four-week delay, final fitting work and operational testing are believed to be ongoing at the site to ensure the store is fully prepared for launch.

Highland Anticipation Builds

Excitement around Wingstop’s arrival in Inverness has been building since refit plans were submitted to Highland Council earlier this year, followed by a mass recruitment drive across the region. Until now, Highland fans of the brand’s signature wings, tenders, and loaded fries had to travel to Aberdeen or Central Scotland to visit a physical store.

Once open, the Inverness venue will feature dine-in, takeaway, and delivery services, offering the full menu including popular flavors like Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, and Louisiana Rub.

Wingstop UK, operated by Lemon Pepper Holdings, has seen rapid expansion across the country following a surge in demand, with plans to open up to 30 new sites across the UK and Ireland this year.

Local customers looking to visit on opening day should now mark Friday, September 11 on their calendars, with doors expected to open from mid-morning at Eastfield Way.
