Retail giant TJ Morris, the parent company of Home Bargains, has secured approval for a major new retail store development at Stratton, located adjacent to the growing Culloden West residential community on the eastern edge of Inverness.
The new development marks a significant investment in the area, offering expanded shopping options and community amenities for nearby residents.
Key Features of the New Store
Spanning a 3,252-square-metre store building set within a wider 3.05-hectare site, the flagship development goes beyond standard retail to serve as a local hub:
- In-Store Café & Garden Centre: Customers will have access to an expanded retail format including an indoor café and an outdoor garden centre.
- Community Allotments: The plans include dedicated space for local allotments, designed to be managed by a community group.
- Future Town Centre Integration: The site is designed to form part of an emerging "Stratton town centre" hub, with adjoining land earmarked for future developments such as commercial spaces, small retail units, and residential flats.

Local Economic & Community Impact
The store is set to deliver notable benefits to the local economy and infrastructure:
- Job Creation: The project will create 40 direct local jobs in retail and operations, alongside additional support roles during the development phase.
- Convenience for Residents: By placing popular discount retail options right on the doorstep of Culloden West and Stratton, the development aims to shorten journey times for day-to-day shopping and relieve traffic heading into central Inverness.
Do you think this will be good for Culloden?
